Caroline and Andrew welcome you to Magpies Restaurant, a small family run restaurant with three luxurious and comfortable en-suite rooms.
Magpies Restaurant with Rooms is set in a row of 200 year old black and cream cottages in the delightful market town of Horncastle, formally known as Banovallum. A desirable location in the conservation area of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Caroline and Andrew took ownership in 2004 and they and their small dedicated team offer all of their guests a warm welcome. The dining room has an elegant duck egg blue and cream décor, with crisp white linen napkins, silver cutlery and candlelight evoking an intimate and relaxed atmosphere to compliment the fine dining experience. Guests can enjoy an aperitif on the patio on balmy summer evenings or the warmth of the wood burning stove on chilly winter nights. Guests can extend their Magpies experience by staying in one of our elegant and comfortable bedrooms with large, stylish, modern en-suite shower/bathrooms.
Andrew is Head Chef and his passion and enthusiasm are reflected in his menus, great care is taken to source ingredients locally, wherever possible, and promote all that is great in Lincolnshire. Caroline creates delicious desserts and runs front of house, with the help of her small team. Service is formal and attentive, but delivered in a friendly and relaxed style. Magpies staff endeavor to be courteous, friendly and meet the needs of their guests at all times.

Our head chef
In May 2004 Andrew became Head Chef and owner of Magpies, with his front of house wife Caroline. Andrew’s passion and enthusiasm for cooking are reflected in the quality of the menu, great care is taken to source fresh seasonal British and local ingredients, wherever possible. From an early age Andrew wanted to become a chef, on leaving school he went to Catering College in Derbyshire, from there he was employed at a well known restaurant The Old Vicarage, Ridgeway. This is where Andrew and Caroline met, and the rest as they say is history, they are now married and have two daughters. Andrew has been creating culinary delights at Magpies, and they will be celebrating Magpies 18th Anniversary in May 2022.
