Lincoln Castle

Lincoln Castle was built by William the Conqueror in 1068 on a site occupied since Roman times. The castle has dominated the Lincoln City skyline for over a thousand years. It is also home to one of only four surviving Magna Carta, a document which shaped society as we know it today. Inside the castle walls is a Victorian Prison which offers an insight into the way the justice system operated in the past.
